The gala supplies are packed away and back in storage until next year. We heard from many people that this was the best one yet! We are so grateful to have Vibrant Church as our new "home" venue for this yearly event. It is exponentially easier to plan and set up when you are more familiar with the layout of the venue! Many thanks to Pastor Mark Fay and his staff at Vibrant for all their help and grace.
Our speaker Jean Davis held back nothing; people got to hear first-hand just how abusive prostitution is to women. She strongly challenged the church body to step up in every way to stop this horror right in our own towns. Many people had no idea just how bad it can be, which proves the point that our church body overall has been asleep! Actor, producer and film director Tommy Lee Thomas also attended, all the way from the west coast. Deb and Tommy Lee had a Q and A, where Tommy Lee answered questions about how he got into Christian filmmaking and about our movie in the making. The working title is Strong Hearts, and it will truthfully show what transpires when a client walks into a pregnancy resource center such as Aspire Now. The next step is the script writing, which will cost $10k of the movie budget. We are going for a full-featured movie, done with excellence! Engaging and enlightening are the attributes we are hoping this movie will achieve. If you feel moved to bring the truth about PRCs such as ours to the greater population, please consider donating generously to this project. The total budget is huge (100k), but we serve a mighty God! Speaking of money: another way you could help sow into this ministry is by something called QCDs, or Qualified Charitable Deductions. This is a way for tax savings for you that could benefit Aspire Now. Speak to your financial consultant, tax preparer or advisor for more information! We continue to need volunteers to go out with the mobile clinic van. The Salvation Army's new local leader has been very open to allowing us to park there and minister to local women, and we want to be able to continue our presence in Saint Albans, but need volunteers for that as well. If you are, or know medical personnel that would be interested in helping as well, please do let us know. Van staff volunteers are greatly needed at this time and we really want to be out there in our communities, but are being held back by this need. We appreciate each and every one of you and hope you will join us for our annual Christmas Open House held on Wednesday, Dec. 4 here at the center in Williston. It's a drop-in gathering, from 11:30-2:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
