Please keep the center in prayer as the state legislature considers two bills that appear aimed at harming us and the other PRCs in VT.
Rep.Mr. George Till has introduced H.634 "An act relating to pregnancy center fraud". The wording of this egregious piece of legislation is vague, which would leave us open to interpretations of wording such as "ought to know it is untrue", "clearly designed to mislead the public" and "by the exercise of reasonable care". Please read the bill as introduced and contact your representatives to voice your opposition. https://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2022/H.634
Also, just as we are getting ready to welcome the Mobil Clinic in March, Reps. Ann Pugh and Barbara Rachaelson have introduced an "act relating to prohibiting mobile billboards".
Here's some of the wording of the bill as introduced:
"A “sign” is any structure, display, device, or representation, either
temporary or permanent, portable, mobile, vehicle-mounted, or ground mounted, that is designed or used to advertise or call attention to any thing, person, business, activity, or place and is visible from any highway or other right-of-way."
We need and appreciate your strong opposition to these bills!
This past year ended with us saying a fond farewell to Barb Kohler, who has volunteered countless hours with this organization almost from it's inception! Barb has been on the Board, as well as acting as our bookeeper/accountant. If you consider what it costs to have someone do your payroll and taxes each year, you begin to get an idea of how much money she has saved us! Then, of course, add in compiling reports for the Board meetings, paying the bills and sitting on the phone with the IRS for hours on end... We can't adequately thank her enough. Barb, we'll miss you and pray that your toes are in the sand all the cold months and that we see your smiling face once in awhile during the warmer ones! Thank you so very much!
When Barb was thinking about retiring, she even found us a wonderful interim replacement. Barb is pictured in the foreground and behind her is Denise Marcelle. Barb and Denise used to work together, so Denise has been able to jump right in. We are very grateful for her willingness to help us out! (Shhh, don't tell her we're praying we get to keep her.)
Thank you, Denise - We really appreciate having your help!
Just letting you know that we will be closing early tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 23) at Noon and will reopen on Monday, Jan. 3.
Thank you all for your support and encouragement- especially through this year. We know it's been a challenging one for almost everyone. We truly appreciate each and every one of you!
We wish you all a very Merry and Meaningful Christmas!
We received such a nice surprise today: Pam Garcia delivered a large bag filled with a dozen zippered gift bags. Peeking inside the bags, we see socks, pens, pencils, deodorant, hand sanitizer, chewing gum, hair ties, cute tweezers and more!
Pam loves to sew and quilt and crafted the bags. They are made from quality quilt fabrics and the zippers sport tassels! A lot of work went into these.
Pam collaborated with Patty Gaboriault to help women feel pampered with these beautiful, handy bags. Pam, it was delightful meeting you and we hope you and Patty have the very merriest of Christmases. Thank you and God bless you both!
November 30th is Giving Tuesday!
You know that we serve women and men who come in for STD testing, pregnancy tests, and ultrasounds, post-abortion and relationship help. BUT, did you know that there's more to your giving that this?
When you give to Aspire Together, you are also helping yourself. Besides the warm feeling that comes from doing something good in the world, giving helps us to be more aware of God's provision and blessings in our lives. Doesn't He tell us throughout His word that He delights in the sincere gift (1Cor. 1:12), the cheerful giver (2Cor.9:6-8), and the giver who trusts in His promises (Mark 12:41-44)?
The clients who benefit from your generosity are image-bearers of God. His love for them is the same as His love for you and me, no matter if they know Him or not! This season, please help Aspire Together reach many for Christ. God knows the role He planned for each one of us from the very beginning. Won't you join us in helping clients start reaching their God-given potential?
Thank you and God bless you!
We have so much to be grateful for: our faith, our friends, a bright and welcoming new center, a mobile clinic in the works, babies being born, and so much more. God is abundantly able to provide and we are thankful.
Deb and all the staff wish you and yours a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!
This past Saturday we hosted the first Open House here at the new center and had a great group of friends show up to see what's new! We had tours, answered questions, and had folks interested in volunteering for us. If you were unable to attend, but are curious about the new space please drop by anytime during business hours and if we are able to, we'll show you around and answer any questions you might have. Or call ahead and schedule a time!
Also, if you have been thinking of volunteering as a way to join in with this ministry, please let us know and pick up a volunteer information packet. We will need more volunteers who can work with potential clients with the Mobile Clinic once we have it as well as those who might have an interest and skill in bookkeeping, handyman, IT help, event (Baby Bottle drive, Banquet, Walk/Run, etc) help and Prayer Warrior where the Mobile Clinic is OR praying from home during specific time slots. We need it all and would greatly appreciate your service!
In just 10 short days, we'll be hosting an Open House here at the new center. How quickly time has flown by! Since our last blog post, we've had our Annual Fundraising Banquet, moved to the new center location and sent out a newsletter.
In case you aren't on the mailing list (and if you want to be, let us know!), the Open House will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13th from 10:00 - Noon. Drop in for some refreshments and take a tour of the new space. We are so pleased with what God has provided: a bright, welcoming space that has plenty of parking and is on the busline near shopping for clients! For us, having a post office right around the corner is handy as well.
Please come join us at: 5399 Williston Road, Ste. 207 (we're on the second floor)
Williston, VT 05495
Again, drop by anytime between 10am and Noon! There is parking and the entrance is in the back. You can use the stairs or the elevator. We hope to see you soon!
