Today is a sad, sad day for us here at the center. A young client couple that we have been praying would choose life for their unborn baby apparently have chosen to abort. It borders on ghoulish how chirpy and cheerful the young woman from the hospital sounds whenever she calls us for a client's ultrasound records. It saves them from having to do another one. And it's just a fetus anyway, right? As a society, what sort of children are we raising when they grow up thinking that a prestigious career, money and/or fame are the be all and end all? Over and above caring for life? Kids are being told right from the beginning that they are the center of the known universe and they carry that selfishness right through adulthood. On days like today, we reflect on how instead of "progressing", this society seems to be regressing into something dark and ominous. We know God's plans for us are good, we do. It's just that on days like this, when we read more lies told about us online and feel the shock of knowing another innocent life is being physically ripped apart that we need our Lord and our friends to remind us why we do what we do. Jesus didn't always have people stay with Him. As a crowd left when His message got difficult, He asked his disciples "Will you also leave?" And we echo their answer: "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." He truly is the light in the darkness. Come quickly, Lord Jesus! Please lift up our clients in prayer today. Please lift us up in prayer today. And perhaps most importantly, please lift up the abortion providers in prayer. "...but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31

Here are a few shots of staff, volunteers and guests at the Banquet - we will be asking next year for guests to provide us with a variety candid shots to choose from! Generally, we are whirling around trying to keep things running during the event so that would be a fun way to volunteer next year (hint, hint). What does God say?The 2019 Annual Banquet is in our rearview mirror and for those who attended, we sincerely hope that the evening was a blessing to you. Mary Beerworth, Executive Director of VT Right to Life, opened many eyes to the dark reality of VT's ties to the Eugenics movement. The Eugenics movement never really went away, it just morphed into the idea of abortion being all about "health care for the disadvantaged" and "women's choice". While this knowledge is both sobering and sad, when Vermonters face the truth of what abortion is really all about, then we are better prepared for the battle.
We thank God for Mary and everyone at VT Right to Life for their persistence in shining the light of truth on what our adversary would rather be kept in the dark! Some of you seemed to leave the evening with a sense of frustration. After all, what can Christians do to fight against such a well-funded enemy? The answer is biblical: Get busy! (Matt. 5:16) God can use anyone-regardless of age or physical ability-for His purpose. We have been asking awhile now for another committed Christian to stand up and become our next Director of Development. As a faith-based nonprofit, we have to raise all of our own funding. That fact alone makes the position vital to our future success as a ministry! If you feel the call, or know a qualified Christian who might not know our need, please contact us. Also, we are always looking for Client Advocate volunteers to work directly with the clients, demonstrating God's love and provision. Share His grace! More physical needs for the center include: installing and removing the air conditioners each year, keeping the garden out front weeded, washing the windows and tidying/organizing the Blessings Boutique and the storage areas upstairs and down as we receive new donations. A BIG need for us is to update the waiting area. The rug there is stained, tired and needs to go! The walls could use a nice paint job and if the paint and flooring were donated, that would be an even bigger blessing. A warm, cheerful and welcoming waiting/entrance area would really give us a much needed boost in presentation! So, now what? Hopefully, we've just given you some ideas to pray about! |
