Please keep the center in prayer as the state legislature considers two bills that appear aimed at harming us and the other PRCs in VT.
Rep.Mr. George Till has introduced H.634 "An act relating to pregnancy center fraud". The wording of this egregious piece of legislation is vague, which would leave us open to interpretations of wording such as "ought to know it is untrue", "clearly designed to mislead the public" and "by the exercise of reasonable care". Please read the bill as introduced and contact your representatives to voice your opposition. https://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2022/H.634 Also, just as we are getting ready to welcome the Mobil Clinic in March, Reps. Ann Pugh and Barbara Rachaelson have introduced an "act relating to prohibiting mobile billboards". https://legislature.vermont.gov/bill/status/2022/H.481 Here's some of the wording of the bill as introduced: "A “sign” is any structure, display, device, or representation, either temporary or permanent, portable, mobile, vehicle-mounted, or ground mounted, that is designed or used to advertise or call attention to any thing, person, business, activity, or place and is visible from any highway or other right-of-way." We need and appreciate your strong opposition to these bills! Thank you!

This past year ended with us saying a fond farewell to Barb Kohler, who has volunteered countless hours with this organization almost from it's inception! Barb has been on the Board, as well as acting as our bookeeper/accountant. If you consider what it costs to have someone do your payroll and taxes each year, you begin to get an idea of how much money she has saved us! Then, of course, add in compiling reports for the Board meetings, paying the bills and sitting on the phone with the IRS for hours on end... We can't adequately thank her enough. Barb, we'll miss you and pray that your toes are in the sand all the cold months and that we see your smiling face once in awhile during the warmer ones! Thank you so very much! When Barb was thinking about retiring, she even found us a wonderful interim replacement. Barb is pictured in the foreground and behind her is Denise Marcelle. Barb and Denise used to work together, so Denise has been able to jump right in. We are very grateful for her willingness to help us out! (Shhh, don't tell her we're praying we get to keep her.)
Thank you, Denise - We really appreciate having your help! |
